The Town of Kershaw held a grand opening for the Ben Cook Tennis Center, Sunday, May 5, 2024. The 2-court tennis facility project was a joint effort between the Town of Kershaw’s elected officials, local volunteers, and USTA South Carolina. The project received venue services funding from USTA SC, USTA Southern and USTA National. It is named in honor of Kershaw native Ben Cook, who grew up playing tennis in the town. Cook is the tennis pro at Daniel Island.
South Carolina is among the leaders in the Southern section for tennis facilities projects, which can sometimes take years to complete. The Town of Kershaw, however, is an incredible example of what can be achieved when a committed group of people work together focused on a greater purpose.
