South Carolina Tennis Facility Recognized as 2026 USTA Outstanding Facility

Columbia, SC – September 3, 2026

Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center has been named a winner of an Outstanding Facility Award by the United States Tennis Association in the Public Courts: Large Tennis Centers (12 or more courts) category. The national awards program recognizes excellence in the construction and/or renovation of tennis facilities throughout the country.

Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center received funds this year from USTA National, USTA Southern and USTA South Carolina to refurbish tennis courts at the facility. South Carolina is ranked 4th nationally in active tennis facilities projects and is in the Top 10 nationally for awards made to those SC tennis facilities. Cayce is a community partner with USTA SC and is a popular tennis location for Midlands players who live in Lexington and Richland Counties.

In addition to year-round court access, the center hosts USTA SC league play for players in both Lexington and Richland Counties and offers programming, camps and clinics for both adults and youth. The center hosts tournaments for all levels of play including one-day events, USTA South Carolina League Championships, National Level Junior Tournaments, collegiate conference championships, and USTA Pro Circuit events.

“Facilities like this are really at the heart of tennis in our communities. It’s more than just a facility; it’s about bringing neighbors together and making sure everyone feels welcome to pick up a racquet and play,” said Theodore Loehrke, Managing Director, Head of Section Partnerships, USTA. “The work they do locally is what keeps our game growing and makes such a positive difference in people’s lives.”

Accepting the award on behalf of the center was Brian Clary, Director of Tennis & Pickleball Operations for Lexington County Recreation & Aging Commission, and Brian Reeves, CTFC Facility Director and Head Tennis Professional.

USTA South Carolina is the state affiliate of the United States Tennis Association and is one of nine states that comprise the USTA Southern Section. A not-for-profit organization with more than 23,000 members, USTA South Carolina offers a variety of tennis programs and services for all ages and abilities to fulfill its mission to improve lives and build healthier communities in South Carolina by growing and promoting tennis as a lifelong sport.
