From Showcase to College Tennis

The USTA South Carolina College Showcase continues to create opportunities for junior players to connect with college coaches and pursue their dream of playing at the next level.

Mia El-Kheddiwi (Wando High School) signed with Coker University.

Mia’s father, Mehdi El-Kheddiwi, a South Carolina tennis professional, shared how important the showcase was in her recruiting journey:

“The USTA South Carolina college showcase allowed our daughter Mia to fulfill her college tennis aspirations. Without this unique and groundbreaking program, we could not have made the personal connections needed to begin and continue conversations with college coaches. Without the showcase, Mia would not have gotten her chance. Thank you, Amanda Morelli and USTA SC!”

Alex Hammel (Aiken High School) recently signed with Erskine College after being identified through the showcase.

Erskine Head Men’s Tennis Coach Matt Shumate said:

“The USTA SC College Showcase gave us a great chance to meet and scout talented local players. While we were there, we found a young man who truly loves tennis and plays with great effort and heart. The showcase helped us see not just his skills, but his attitude and work ethic. Because of this event, we were able to give him the opportunity to play tennis at the college level.”
