Local Tennis Heroes

We’re thrilled to recognize the following incredible individuals who have made a lasting impact on our SC tennis community. From reviving programs to fostering a love for tennis, these leaders shine on and off the courts!

Barbara Gilbert (Ninety Six) (Greenwood/Newberry) GATA– Barbara is unselfish in giving her time and energy to ensure what is needed it available to promote tennis and provide a quality service to the junior team tennis and youth of Greenwood.

Meridith White (Mount Pleasant) (Greater Charleston Area) LCTA – Merideth as a long-time captain at MPR has patience and a good attitude as she assembled an amazing group of women that play together year-round.

Nan Smith (Columbia) CTL – Nan, an amazing ambassador has volunteered in every capacity from captain to SC tennis president and is always promoting tennis in our state.

Linda Freeman (Hartsville) (Pee Dee Tennis League) PD – Linda has captained teams and volunteered to run the state championships with recruiting and coordinating volunteers, overseeing multiple playing sites, and responding to needs of players while trying to make the time fun for all.

Brian Fatzinger (Hilton Head Island) (TAHHI) – Brian has been organizing tennis in his community, serving as USTA captain for multiple leagues each year and actively sings in local community groups.

Thomas Elison (Fort Mill) (Rock Hill) MCTL– Thomas co-founded a group called the Fossils for senior men and acts as a coordinator for 90 senior men on the roster.
